School note May 27th 2011

27-5-2011.
Dear parents,
I wish to bring the following to your attention.
Yesterday all classes in the school went on school tour. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive. . As usual, staffs in the various venues were most complimentary about the behaviour of our pupils Thanks to all the teachers and Special Needs Assistants who had a long and busy day.
Next Thursday June 2nd will see the official raising of our long-awaited Green Flag. A lot of hard work has gone into earning the Green Flag so we look forward to a great day.
School Uniform: Please see the note re Uniforms on the reverse of this note.
The school's Parents Association is having a Colours Day on Friday next June 3rd. €1 per child is suggested. In keeping with the green theme, and as Limerick are playing on the following two weekends, I would suggest a Green Colours Day.
Parents are reminded that school will be closed for the week June 7th -10th inclusive.
Conratulations to Ruth Hannon, First Class, who won the GR8 Saver competition run by MPCC Credit Union.

School note May 5th 2011

Dear parents,
Word reached the school this week that Ballybrown NS has been awarded its first Green Flag. This is the culmination of 18 months hard work by everybody, children, teachers, ancillary staff and the entire school community. The amount of work that went into this was quite staggering while there was also great emphasis on recording and monitoring all the initiatives that were involved. Mrs Hodgins, who co-ordinated the Green School initiative, and Ms Mc Carthy deserve special mention as do all the children who served on the Green School Committee. The Green Flag will be presented at a special ceremony in Thomond Park on May 20th.  while plans are already in train for the raising of the Green Flag here in the school before the end of the school year.
During the Easter break, the alarm system in the school was extended to cover the entire building. The heating system received a major overhaul while work was carried out to bring our electrical system in line with current standards.
Limerick City Sports take place in UL next Wednesday May 11th. Weather has hampered our trials this week but all trials will be completed by tomorrow.
Our own School Sports will take place on Wednesday June 22nd., weather permitting.
School tours for all classes take place on Thursday May 26th. All details are on the back of this page and on the school website. All monies to be in by May 20th.
School will close for midterm break from Tuesday June 7th to Friday June 11th. inclusive.
Graduation for Sixth Class will take place on Friday June 24th.
A very limited number of vacancies exists for Junior Infants class in September 2011. All enquiries to the school as soon as possible.
Gach dea-ghui,
