Dear parents,
I wish to bring the following to your attention.
All pupils from First to Sixth Class will attend Music in the Classroom tomorrow in the Concert Hall at UL. The children have been practising the songs for the performance and it promises to be a great occasion. The performance is at 12 noon so we will be back in school long before 3 p.m. At €13 per child, the school has no profit margin as this barely covers the cost of the performance and the transport. All classes will be accompanied by their teacher.
Clan Cluana Theatre Company will visit the school on Thursday next January 26th to stage a performance of the story of Diarmuid and Gráinne for pupils from Second to Sixth Class inclusive . Cost is €3 per child.
I made an appeal yesterday for copies of textbooks in the Starways series from Junior Infants to Second Class. Thank you to all who have already responded. I hope families will have a look for these books over the weekend.
Since we returned after Christmas holidays, I have noticed a number of pupils with biscuits, bars etc in their lunchboxes. Our Healthy Eating policy has been a great success. I urge parents to co-operate with the policy.
Please note: The closing date for application for enrolment in the Junior Infant class for September 2012 is 3 p.m. on Friday January 27th.

Dear parents,
I would like to welcome all pupils, staff and parents back to school after the Christmas break.
As previously mentioned, Music in the Classroom takes place on Friday January 20th. in the University Concert Hall. All pupils from First to Sixth Classes will attend this excellent event. Monies to be paid to your child's teacher. The cost including bus, concert etc is €13 per child.
Fifth Class pupils have just started a six-week programme of swimming lessons in Askeaton Leisure Centre. This is a great opportunity for all pupils to learn a lifelong skill.
Mrs. Allen, who retired as Deputy Principal at Christmas, has asked me to express her gratitude to all parents who sent their good wishes to her. I would also like to thank the members of the Committee of the Parents Association who put such effort into making the occasion so special.
Ms Siobhan Clifford and Ms Katie Gibbons have joined the staff until the end of the school year. They are most welcome and have settled in already in their roles as Fourth Class teachers.
The school is now taking applications for enrolment in Junior Infants in September 2012. Parents who have already submitted their child's name will receive an Application Form in the post. If you have not done so already, please contact the school. Closing date for applications is Friday January 27th at 3 p.m.
I would remind all people driving in the vicinity of the school to be aware of the safety of the children at all times.
Gach dea-ghuí,
