School note May 29th.

29-5-2012.

Dear parents,

Last Saturday, the boys and girls of Second Class made their First Holy Communion. The day was a great success. All the hard work by Mrs Dillon and the children was in evidence. Thanks also to SNA’s  Anna Henn and Nora Casey who assisted on the day and to all who helped out. Thanks once again to the ladies of the Parents Association who provided tea and coffee for families afterwards.

Well done to all the members of the Under 13 hurling team who lost narrowly in the semi final of the Olo Cup last Friday. They were a credit to the school, their club and themselves. We are indebted to Mr Lordan and Mr Hennessy who put so much thought and effort into preparing this team over the last two years.

All classes from First to Sixth go on School Tour tomorrow. Please ensure your child is at school in time. Tour details are on www.ballybrownns.ie

All children are asked to stay in the schoolyard as on a normal school morning until their teacher brings them to the bus. No spending money needed. No mobile phones, cameras, or any IT devices allowed. This decision was agreed at Board of Management level.  Every year, valuable items are lost or left behind on buses, in dressing rooms or other areas. The school is also acutely conscious of the issue of Cyberbullyng. .No exceptions will be made in this regard.

If there is any delay on the return journey, the school will text parents. I am sure everybody will have a great day.  The children from this school can always be relied upon to represent the school impeccably, no matter the occasion.

The next meeting of the Parents’ Association will take place on Monday June 10th. at 8.30 p.m. in the school

School will be closed all of next week and reopen on Monday June 10th.

School note May 9th 2013

9-5-2013.

Dear parents,

I wish to bring the following to your attention.

Last term, the school issued a questionnaire to parents on Mathematics. There was a very good response. This questionnaire was extremely useful in giving the school feedback on children’s attitude to the subject as well as finding out how parents view the subject in the Primary school curriculum of 2013. Many parents made suggestions which were interesting and showed the seriousness with which they treated the survey. The children in Senior Infants will shortly commence a programme called Mata le Chéile, a Paired Maths activity-based programme for children and their parents. The programme will extend to First Class next term. All parents of Senior Infant pupils will receive an explanatory note. The success of the programme will depend largely on the commitment of parents to engage in the activity but the effort will be well worthwhile.

Tomorrow, Friday May 10th is Wear Your County Colours Day, an initiative to herald the start of summer and the GAA Championships. Children are invited to wear a GAA jersey to school or any green jersey. There is no money involved. Tomorrow night in North Campus in UL, the Limerick football and hurling teams host an Open Night for primary school children at 7 p.m. All details on http://www.limerickgaa.ie/news/253365/chance_for_g_a_a_fans_to_meet_their_heroes

School tours are on May 29th and 30th All details on the school website. Please pay your child’s teacher.

The school is trying to encourage children to be in time for school. A minority of pupils are late on a regular basis. Any child who is late on more than one occasion in a week will receive a note. I urge all parents to co operate in this area.
