School note September 24th. 2015

24-9-2015

Dear parents,

I wish to bring the following to your attention.

It has come to my attention that a number of children are dropped at school at an early hour. I wish to remind parents that the school cannot accept responsibility for children who are at school before 9 a.m.  The school provides morning supervision for 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9.15 a.m.daily to facilitate parents. It is not a playtime. It is assembly time. Parking space is at a premium each morning and evening. A number of parents are staying at school from 9 to 9.15 a.m. to watch their children play. This means there are no parking spaces available in the designated areas or parents are parking in bus spaces and in the Staff parking areas. Children are supervised in the Junior yard by Mrs Hodgins and the senior yard  by myself.   I would appreciate your co operation in this matter.

Tomorrow Friday 25th. September is the last date to sign up for Allianz pupil personal accident insurance.

Cumann na mBunscol matters: Last Saturday morning, this school took part in the Ard Scoil Rís blitz, losing to the eventual winners. Our Under 13 girls football team played their first match of the season v St Nessan's NS in Mungret yesterday. The boys under 13 team play Lisnagry NS today in Clarina while the boys  Under 11 team play Our Lady Queen of Peace in the school pitch tomorrow Friday. Please check the school website for information on fixtures etc. . I would like to thank all the teachers involved for their interest and commitment and also the parents who provide transport each week.

Thanks also to all families who have paid the Art & Craft/Photocopying contribution. If you haven't got around to it yet, please contact Rosemarie at the school office.

MPCC Credit Union return to the school tomorrow, September 25th.

School note September 17th, 2015

17-9-2015.
Dear parents,
I wish to bring the following to your attention.
Parking: Parking is a constant problem. There are now six buses or mini buses servicing the school. All the area to the left of the main gate as one enters the school is  designated Bus Parking only, apart from one disabled spot. Parents must not park there. The area to the right of the school gate is Staff Parking only. Parents are requested to use the Resource Centre carpark and the Church carpark.
Please do not walk through the Staff Carpark.
It is important to collect children promptly at end of school day. Children not collected must wait inside the school grounds until they are collected.
Homework: Please check your child's Homework Diary every night, Monday to Thursday. It is a good idea to sign the Homework Diary and check that homework is being done properly.

Closing date for Allianz Pupil Personal Insurance is  Friday Sept. 25th
I would like to express my gratitude to all the families for their Art & Craft/Photocopying contributions. If you have not yet paid this money, you can give it to Rosemarie in the school office any day between 9a.m. and 2p.m. €35 per child or €60 per family.
Open Nights for pos-t primary schools will go ahead during the months of September and October. If your child is in Sixth Class this year, it is important to attend these occasions before you make your choice of secondary school. Common Application Forms will issue later this term. The closing date for application is early January.
Finally, I am delighted to welcome Ms Helen Nolan, the newest member of the teaching staff. Ms Nolan is teaching Sixth Class. She joins the staff as part of a Teacher exchange which sees Ms Day move to take up a teaching position in Dublin.

3-9-2015.

Dear parents,

The new school year is in full swing. Please note the following.

Children are supervised from 9 a.m. each morning. The school cannot be responsible for pupils arriving at school before 9 a.m.

Homework: Start as you mean to continue. Check your child's homework diary every night. Only sign off on homework if you are happy it has been completed satisfactorily.

Healthy Eating: The merits of a Healthy eating policy are self- evident. Fruit, sandwich and water or milk are all a child needs. No fizzy drinks, 'health bars,'  chocolate  or sweets.

Parking: I would appreciate if parents used the Resource Centre and Church grounds car parks. Children should not walk through the staff car park. They should enter via the gate nearest to the Resource Centre. Safety of children is paramount.  Please do not park in Staff parking areas or in Bus berths.

All families today received forms for Allianz Pupil Personal Insurance. There are two types: school day cover (€6) or all-year-round (€9). This is entirely voluntary but has proven very popular with parents in the past. Should you decide to avail of this insurance, please hand monies to the School Office by Friday September 25th.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the families for their Art & Craft/Photocopying contributions. If you have not yet paid this money, you can give it to Rosemarie in the school office any day between 9a.m. and 2p.m. €35 per child or €60 per family.
