School Note October 27th

27-10-2016

Dear parents,

As you are all aware, the school applied last March for an additional teacher under the Developing School Category. However, on September 30th., the school enrolment was not sufficient to retain the teacher. The Board of Management decided to appeal this decision and I have been informed that the Appeal was unsuccessful. Consequently, the teaching post has been suppressed. Mr. McMahon will leave the school tomorrow. We are all sorry to lose such a hardworking, dedicated teacher. On behalf of the Board of Management,  I would like to thank all the parents who contacted politicians to explain the merits of our case.

On Tuesday, Ms Siobhán Doherty conducted an information session for parents on the topic of Shared Reading. There was a good attendance. It was another example of the contribution the Parents Association makes to the school.

Today, our Under 13 football team lost to Monaleen NS in the replayed City final by a single point. The teams finished level after extra time following Tuesday's final in the Gaelic Grounds. Well done to all. Thanks to Mr Sheehy and Mr Lordan, team coaches.  Beidh lá eile againn.

Halloween festivities  will be in full swing tomorrow. School ends at the  usual time. Next week will be midterm. School will reopen on Monday November 7th.

Yours,

J. Lyons
