School note January 26th

Dear parents,

                     Next week is Catholic Schools Week. Fr Cussen will visit the school on Monday for a prayer service to begin the week.   There will be other activities during the week.

                  This week,  teachers have put up Maths Displays on the corridors of the school. There are very eyecatching displays to be seen.  See them on our Twitter page @Ballybrown NS.

                     Tomorrow night, Friday 27th of January, a number of teams from the school will take part in the local heat of the Credit Union Quiz. The boys and girls have met every day during lunchtime and have worked hard. I wish them well. The quiz is in Mungret GAA club at 7.30 p.m.

                   On Tuesday next January 31st, Clan Cluana Theatre Company will perform   ' The Story of Diarmuid agus Grainne'  for all children in classes from Third to Sixth inclusive. This is a lovely way for children to learn about Irish myths and legends.

                Head Lice: Head Lice are a common problem in any environment where children assemble.This school is no exception.For information on dealing with this problem, see

Ballybrown/Clarina Community Games

Art Competition

We are holding our ART COMPETITION on Saturday 28t^h January in the Ballybrown Resource Centre from 4 to 6pm. The theme will be 'Any Community Games Activity. Please bring along whatever colouring materials you want to use. Paper will be provided. There is a small charge of €1.00 per person.

Swimming Competition

Thanks to all those that contacted us entering their child in the A & B swimming competitions. The B competition will be held on Sunday 5^th February in Askeaton Pool from 4pm, the A competition will be held in Askeaton pool on Sunday 5^th March at 4pm. School Note January 19th 2017

Dear parents,

                     I wish to bring the following to your attention.

                    MPCC Credit Union return to school tomorrow Friday January 20th.                

                    On Monday, John Clancy  presented Cycling Safety certificates and high visibility jackets to all Third Class pupils. Third class are also enjoying swimming lessons every Wednesday in Askeaton Leisure Centre.

              Enrolment: The school is now accepting enrolment applications for school year 2017-2018. Closing date is  3 p.m. tomorrow Friday January 20th. Please contact the school if you have not already done so.

                Meetings with teachers: Parents are reminded that you must contact the school to make an appointment if you wish to meet your child's teacher. Teachers will not meet parents without an appointment.

             Transport to school matches: Under Child Protection guidelines, parents who are willing to provide transport to school matches must be Garda Vetted and provide the school with a copy of their insurance documents. If there are any parents who are willing and available, please contact the school immediately. Otherwise, we will have to hire buses for all sporting events which is expensive or we may have to curtail our involvement in sport which would be regrettable.

                Attendance: In the event of any pupil reaching a total of twenty days absence from school in a school year, the school is  required by law to make a report to Túsla, the Child and Family Agency. Parents are advised to be aware of this and to be mindful of their child's attendance record. Please contact the school if your child is absent. A note in the Homework Journal will suffice.
