School note March 31st 2011

Dear parents,
I wish to bring the following to your attention.
The local Tidy Towns Committee presented the school with three Mountain Ash trees in support of our Green School efforts. Tim Toomey visited the school and assisted the members of the Green Schools Committee with the tree planting ceremony.

Wassa Wassa African Drums company visited the school last Thursday to conduct drumming workshops with all classes from Junior Infants to Sixth. It was a wonderful experience enjoyed by all.

Evelyn Adams and Captain Hugh Conlon from Shannon Foynes Port Company were very welcome visitors to Fifth Class when they dropped in to present prizes to the winners of the essay competition run in conjunction with the class's visit to Foynes. Captain Conlon was most impressed with the high standard. The results of the essay competition were 1st: Mairead Hannon. 2nd. Kevin Leahy & 3rd. April O Neill.

The name of Kate Healy, Third Class, was inadvertently omitted from the list of prizewinners in the Community Games Art and Handwriting competitions last week.  Kate won Third prize in the Girls competition. Well done Kate.

Gach dea-ghuí,
