School note December 11th

11-12-2014

Dear parents,

Last Thursday, 130 children from Third to Sixth classes took part in  the Hallelujah Chorus in Citywest, just outside Dublin. It was a wonderful experience, enjoyed by all. Three buses left the school at 11 a.m. and returned shortly before midnight. The children sang songs from a CD which every family had received. Boyband  Hometown as well as the group Seo Linn were among the performers. 2000 children from schools all over Ireland took part. I am grateful to all the teachers who travelled to Citywest and especially to Ms Day and Ms O Connor who prepared the choir.

Next Tuesday,  December 16th., the school will stage a Christmas Carol Service in St. Joseph's Church. There will be two performances, one at 10 a.m. and another at 11.30 a.m. As space is limited, I suggest that parents of children from Junior Infants to Second class inclusive might attend at 10 a.m. and parents of children from 3rd. to 6th. class might attend at 11.30 a.m.

I am keenly aware of the financial pressures that all families face at this time of year. The Parents Association has asked me to inform you that, as was the case for the last few years, they will donate a gift to the staff on behalf of all parents. Teachers do not expect a gift from children. If children would like to give something personal they could perhaps make their own card as a gift to their teacher.

Parents Association: The Ballybrown NS Parents' Association is holding its next meeting tonight Thursday December 11th. at 8.30pm. in the school. There are a number of committee positions vacant which they hope could be filled pre-Christmas. The Parents' Association plays an important role in raising any concerns that parents may have and raises funds for the benefit of the school.  They would be grateful if as many parents as possible could attend; in particular  parents who are new to the school.
