School note May 5th 2016

5-5-2016

Dear parents,

I wish to bring the following to your attention.

Today, Sixth Class took part in an initiative called 'Cell Explorers' run by the  Department of Life Sciences in University of Limerick. Today's workshop, 'Fantastic DNA' is a hands-on science lesson designed to allow every child practise Science in their own classroom. I am indebted to Valerie Cliffe-Byrnes who organised this event for us.

As part of our Active School activities, all children in the school took part in the GLO Run today, coordinated by Ms Keyes and Ms Gibbons. Sponsored by Glo Health, all children in the school walked, or ran, a mile.  It is so important for children to learn the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle.

School Closure: School will be closed on  Thursday May 26th as teachers will be attending Inservice on the new language curriculum.

WSE: The Whole School Evaluation Report on this school is now posted on the DES website www.education.ie/publications.

Congratulations to Laya Moloney in Fifth Class who has qualified to take part in the Dublin Horseshow at the RDS in July. Well done, Laya!
