School Note October 20th

Dear parents,

This is Maths Week. The Problem of the Day is on the school website. A range of Maths activities are going on throughout the school. Classes are involved in the online Maths activity  Manga High.

Author Patricia Forde and Louise Donlon, Director of the Lime Tree Theatre, visited the school on Tuesday. Patricia conducted a workshop with Fourth class and read from her books for all classes from First to Fourth.

Tomorrow, the children in 1st and 2nd classes will visit the Lime Tree Theatre for a performance of 'The Far Field', a musical world of fairytales and folklore.

Gardaí Daryl Tubridy and Niamh Briggs visited the school this week to speak to the children in 5th & 6th classes about Halloween and the dangers of fireworks. They also spoke about Safety on the Road.

Well done to our under 13 boys football team who have qualified for the City A final v Monaleen N.S.. It will be played in the Gaelic Grounds on Tuesday 25th. Throw in is at 12.30 p.m. All children from 3rd to 6th classes will attend.

Excitement is mounting as the County Hurling Final approaches. We are very proud of the fact that every player on the Ballybrown panel is a former pupil of the school while a number of the Patrickswell panel also attended Ballybrown NS!  The 'Limerick Leader' visited the school yesterday to capture the colour and excitement as the big day draws near.

Parents Association News: Tomorrow, Friday, there will be a Colours Day as  the Big Match  draws closer. €2 per child if possible. All proceeds to the Parents Association.

On Tuesday October 25th at 8 p.m., the Parents Association has organised a Shared Reading Workshop. It will be conducted by Siobhán Doherty who has great expertise in this area. It will be of special interest to parents of children from Junior Infants to Third Class. Admission is free. It should last about one hour.
