School note Thursday September 13th

13-9-2018.

Dear Parents

Today, we hosted a visit of the Liam McCarthy Cup, back on Shannonside after a 45 year absence. It is almost a month since the All-Ireland final but the joy remains unabated. Seán Finn also attended as did members of Ballybrown GAA Club.

On Tuesday, members of the Hedge School Committee visited the school to speak to Fifth and Sixth Classes about the Hedge School in Newtown. Such a project brings history to life for all of us. A cameraman was in attendance and we look forward to seeing the completed programme on Nationwide in October. Special thanks to Jim O Farrell who liases with the school on a regular basis.

All families today received forms for Allianz Pupil Personal Insurance.  There are two types: school day cover (€6) or all-year-round (€9).  This is entirely voluntary but has proven very popular with parents in the past.  Should you decide to avail of this insurance, please hand monies to the School Office by Friday September 28th.
