School note October 17th

17-10-2019.

Dear parents,

It has been a busy week on a range of fronts.

Maths Week:  Many children have availed of the Manga High website. Maths games are going ahead in all classes from Junior Infants up.

Yesterday, over sixty children from the school took part in the Cross Country  Championships in Limerick Racecourse. It was a lovely autumn day for such a healthy activity. Thanks to Mr Sheehy and Ms Day, team managers, and to the parents who attended and helped in so many ways.

Yesterday, nutritionist Yvonne Deegan visited Mr Barry's class to speak to the children about Healthy Eating. She also brought some delicious, healthy, sugar-free snacks for the children to sample. We are lucky to have such generous parents in Ballybrown NS.

Parent teacher meetings take place again today. All families have received details of appointment times. Appointments to meet Mr Barry will be rescheduled for next week.

There is no Homework Club in operation this week due to Parent Teacher meetings.

All Cumann na mBunscol football finals scheduled for next week have been cancelled due to unavailability of the Gaelic Grounds.  They will be played after midterm. The boys Under 13 semi final v JFK is set for 1 p.m. on Monday 21st in Clarina.

School will close for midterm at 3 p.m. on Friday October 25th and reopen on Monday November 5th at 9.15 a.m.

All families have received Code of Behaviour notes. Please read and discuss with your child. All forms to be returned to school by Friday 25th October.

Finally, I ask parents to ensure your child's name is on all coats and jackets. Our Lost Property section is expanding rapidly.

Gach dea- ghuí,

J. Lyons
