School Note November 14th

Dear parents,

I wish to bring the following to your attention.

Please ensure that you inform the school of the reason for any absences. Notes were provided for this purpose at the beginning of the school year. The school has a statutory obligation to make a report to Tusla in the case of every child who is absent for 20 days or more in any school year. It is vital that you furnish the school with a reason for any absences.

Reminder: School will be closed on Wednesday December 11th as all teachers will attend Inservice Training in the Primary Language Curriculum. Today, Ms Maura Tierney from the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) will speak to teachers from 3 p.m. to 4.30 on the implementation of the Language Curriculum.

The term  of the current Board of Management ends on November 30th. John Collins and Catherine Smith were re-elected as Parent Nominees at a meeting in the school last week. Tom Donovan succeeds Christy Ryan as Chairman. Christy has served as Chairman for the past twelve years.

Congratulations to Áine O Brien, Sixth Class, who was named overall County winner, Senior Section, in the Someone Like Me competition. This competition aims to raise disability awareness among primary school children. Áine will represent Limerick in the National Final.

Well done also to Lily Murphy, Third class, who won a Short Story competition  organised by the Crescent Bookshop for her story 'Ted Talks.'
