School note Jan 26th 2012

26-1-2012.
Dear Parents,
I wish to bring the following to your attention.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week and there will be a range of activities during the week. February 1st is St. Bridget's Day while February 3rd. is the feast of St. Blaise.
This is a very busy year in school as Second Class will be receiving First Holy Communion while Fifth and Sixth Classes will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.
I would like to remind you that the closing date to place your child's name on the List of Applicants for Enrolment for September 2012 is tomorrow Friday January 27th at 3 p.m.
Several classes in the school took part in making clay figures as part of A Pitch for Shane, which commemorates Shane Geoghegan, who died tragically in 2008. Shane attended Ballybrown National School. The exhibition in the City Hall in Merchants Quay runs until the end of January and is well worth a visit. More than 2,000 figurines are on display.
A sincere Thank you to the Parents' Association who donated €1000 to the school recently.  €500 went towards the purchase of percussion instruments and €500 will be used to defray the cost of a stage which can be dismantled and stored easily. The Board of Management will cover the remainder of the cost of the stage which should prove very useful for Drama as well as other occasions such as graduation, etc.
The next meeting of the Parents' Association will take place on Monday next January 30th. at 8.30 p.m. in the school.
Gach dea-ghuí,
