School note Feb 9th. 2012

Dear parents,
I wish to bring the following to your attention.
Yesterday, we had a visit from Kerry football hero Colm 'Gooch'Cooper. Colm spoke to all classes and answered questions put to him by Sophie Daly and Seán Gormley. He spoke about Healthy Eating and advised children to get lots of rest. He visited Sixth Class for an hour and discussed a wide range of topics. Seán Healy and Orla Curtin presented him with a hurley specially crafted by Ed Shanahan as a souvenir of his visit. I would like to thank Mrs Mulroe who arranged this very special occasion.
Second Class will be embarking on  the Junior Achievement scheme organised in conjunction with Bank of Ireland This will run for five weeks.
Well done to the three teams who represented the school so well in the MPCC Credit Union Quiz last weekend. A special word of thanks to Mrs Dillon for her work in preparing the teams.
Last week, the school took delivery of a stage that will be used for events such as Drama activities, graduations etc. Thanks to the Parents Association who contributed €500 towards the cost of this most useful asset.
As part of our Green Schools activities, families are asked to take the Green Schools Pledge. The green Schools Committee has met several times and saving energy is this year's theme. You can access the Pledge on http://www.greenschoolsireland.org/_fileupload/energy%20resources/energy%20pledge.pdf
The Parents Association will meet on Monday next February 13th at 8.30 p.m. All welcome.
Gach dea-ghuí
