School note March 8th. 2012

8-3-2012.

Dear parents,

I wish to bring the following to your attention.

Congratulations to the boys and girls i Rang a Sé who represented the school in the FAI 5-a-side schools soccer blitz in Corbally on Tuesday. The girls had a 100% record, wining all 3 games without conceding a goal. The boys also performed very well. Thank you to all the parents who braved the elements on a wet and windy day to support our teams. A special word of thanks to Kevin and Mary Conway who have been training the girls after school. Kevin also took charge of the boys team on the day.

Mr Hennessy and Mr Lordan are busy training the under 13 hurling squad for the Cumann na mBunscol leagues.

The Junior and Senior Infant classes enjoyed a visit to O Mahony's as part of Book Week activities. All classes are reading voraciously.

A Colours Day in aid of the school's Parents Association will take place next Thursday March 15th. As next week is Seachtain na Gaeilge and St Patrick's Day is approaching, a Green theme is suggested. €2 per child, más é bhúr dtoil é. The Parents' Association has been invaluable to the school.

Advance warning: If you are decluttering, the next Recycling day is Friday 30th of March.  Clothes, shoes, mobile phones will be accepted. Bags will be issued on Thursday March 22nd. All items to be delivered by 9.15 a.m. please.

Ms Sheila Hayes has been appointed Deputy Principal to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mrs Allen. Ms Hayes will take up duty next Monday March 12th. I wish her well. I would also like to thank Mrs Margaret Hodgins, Assistant Principal, who has been acting as Deputy Principal since Mrs Allen retired.

Hurling helmets may be ordered from the school at €50 each. Orders by tomorrow, please.

Reminder: School will be closed on Friday March 16th. and Monday March 19th.
