School Note November 29th

Dear parents,

                     The Green Schools Committee has organised an Art Competition for Christmas.. Children are asked to make a Christmas decoration from recycled material. Closing date is December 8^th.

Thank you to all parents who attended parent-teacher meetings last week and to the teachers who put a lot of work into preparation for these meetings. If for some reason, you were not in a position to attend, please contact the school as soon as possible.

During the course of parent-teacher meetings, some parents expressed a desire for their child to repeat a class. Under Department of Education rules governing this issue, Circular 19/2011 makes reference to Circular 32/03 concerning retention of children in same class-

Section 2.3 states: ‘Under the Department’s policy, children should only be allowed to repeat a year for educational reasons and in exceptional circumstances.’

The Christmas pageant will take place in Ballybrown Church on Monday December 17^th at 7 p.m. Rehearsals are in full swing.

The Peace Proms Choir will perform in UL on Sunday January 27^th. All choir members have received a note re tickets etc today.

A meeting of the Parents Association will take place on Monday next December 3^rd. at 8.30 p.m. Please see overleaf re Bagpacking in Tesco on December 22^nd..

Ballybrown/Clarina Community Games: U11 Rugby Training continues this Saturday in the school field 1:30 to 2:30. All newcomers welcome.
U10/U12/U14 Draughts Training continues Thursday in the school  7:10p.m.-8:10.p.m. All newcomers welcome
