School note March 20th 2014

Dear parents,
                   Yesterday, we had a visit from the Diocesan Examiners in religion. Fr Liam and Fiona visited all the classes and were very complimentary about the high standard of work in evidence. The Confirmation classes took part in a one-day Retreat last week under the guidance of Fr Chris O Donnell.
                    Today, Lauren O Gorman, Sixth Class, represented the school in the Eason’s Spelling Bee. Lauren won the title in this school last month.
                  Congratulations to Darragh O Sullivan, Lucy Keyes and  Aisling Murphy who were prizewinners  in the Community Games handwriting competition. Scott White, James McCarthy and Oran Curran were prizewinners in the Art section. Darragh and Lucy go forward to represent Limerick in the National Finals in Athlone in August.
   Confirmation –  The Parents Association are looking for volunteers to help with teas and coffees on the day of the Confirmation, Thurs 3rd April.  We need 4 people to help set up from 11am to 12 noon and around 10 volunteers from 2pm till 4 pm.  Please contact Claire Shields on 085 7846 255 if you are free that day.
.  Friday March 28th. is Daffodil Day   Daffodils needed for  sale in local shops etc. Any daffodils will be collected on Friday morning March 28th. at the school.
                                                   Ballybrown GAA Juvenile Club :  U-6, U-8 & U-10’s will be back training on Friday 21st at 5:45pm in the clubhouse field.  Hurley, helmet & shin guards essential.  New players welcome.       Parents & Players of our U-12, U-14 & U-16 Hurling & Camogie Teams are invited to help out with this year’s Parish Clean Up organised in conjunction with the Tidy Towns Committee on Saturday next (22nd March). Meet at new field at 10am (don’t forget your hi-vis jacket!).   Brendan Grace will be performing in Ballybrown GAA Club on Sunday 23rd March at 8pm. Tickets €25 available from O’Sullivan’s Centra, Martin Hayes Grocery or the Clubhouse.
