School note January 12th 2017

12-1-2017

Dear parents,

I would like to welcome all pupils, staff and parents back to school after the Christmas break.

Fourth Class pupils completed  a six-week programme of swimming lessons in Askeaton Leisure Centre in the run up to Christmas.  Third Class began swimming lessons yesterday  and these will continue until February 15th . This is a great opportunity for all pupils to learn a lifelong skill.

This school is now accepting enrolment applications for school year 2017-2018. Closing date is  3 p.m. on Friday January 20th. Letters to parents of prospective Junior Infants were posted on Monday. Please contact the school if you have not already done so.

Monday January 16th is the closing date for application for post primary school. Parents are reminded to send their completed application form to their first choice school.

School Closure: This school will be closed on Wednesday March 15th as all teachers will be attending Inservice on the proposed new Primary Language Curriculum.

I wish to remind parents that school begins at 9.15 a.m. and children are supervised from 9 a.m. each morning. The school cannot be responsible for children who arrive at school prior to 9 a.m. Please inform childminders, creche operators of this.

As we begin 2017, I ask parents to avail of the parking area available in the Resource Centre and in the Church grounds. Please keep the Staff parking area and the bus areas free. Please do not obstruct traffic or park in the yellow box at the gate.

Safety of children is our only priority.

Please check the school website www.ballybrownns.ie or follow us on Twitter @BallybrownNS to keep yourself informed on school news.

Finally, I urge parents to ensure that your child's name is on all books, coats, fleeces etc.

Gach dea- ghuí,

J. Lyons

Principal
