School note March 23rd

Dear parents,

                    I wish to bring the following to your attention.

                    On Tuesday, as part of our commitment to STEM subjects, all children from Junior Infants and Senior Infants took part in Lego workshops. Principles Covered include: Measuring, Problem Solving,  Prediction & Observation,  Early Science & Technology, Problem Solving, Communication. The children in First and Second classes, meanwhile, were  introduced to Robotics. This workshop provided activities that explore and investigate simple machines, programming,  designing, creating a working model, mathematics,  language, literacy and problem solving design briefs. I am grateful to the Parents Association  who have subsidised the cost of recent events in school.

              Yesterday, three teams from Ballybrown NS played in the FAI/Spar five a side soccer tournament in Corbally. Thank you to Kevin Conway and Colum McGrath who looked after the boys teams and Ms Gibbons who looked after the girls teams.

                   Best wishes to Kelley Dooley who will represent the school in the Limerick Final of Eason's Spelling Bee today in JFK school.

                 Parents Association: The next meeting of the Parents Association is on Wednesday March 29th at 8 p.m in the school Halla. All parents welcome.

                Recycling Day - The next Recycling day organised by the Parents Association  is tomorrow, Friday March 24th. Please have your bags of unwanted clothes, handbags, paired shoes etc. in bags at the school by 9.15am in the morning.  All families have received bags. Thank you for your continued support for this worthwhile fundraising event.

                                I wish to remind parents that school begins at 9.15 a.m. and children are supervised from 9 a.m. each morning. The school cannot be responsible for children who arrive at school prior to 9 a.m. Please inform childminders, creche operators of this.

Great Limerick Run:  The UL Sport Children's Run for Fun at the Barringtons Hospital Great Limerick Run 2017 will take place on Saturday the 29th of April. All of the runs are off road, starting at the GAA pitch beside the running track and finishing on the running track. Mums/dads/minders are welcome to join their children for the first two runs. The cost of entry is €15 per child. €5 of each entry fee will be donated to the participant's primary school. (3:00pm – Junior & Senior Infants – 1KM route, 3:45pm – First & Second Class – 1.5 KM route,4:30pm – Third & Fourth Class – 2 km route, 5:00pm – Fifth & Sixth Class – 2.5 km route).  Registration now open for those interested in participating.

Ballybrown Camogie: Training resumes on Monday 27th 6-7pm for U6, U8, U10 & U12's. 

New players always welcome. Registration can be completed on the night, (everyone must be registered before returning to training).

Please bring hurley, helmet, shin-guards and boots.
