School note March 2nd 2017

Dear parents,

Today is World Book Day and there are many activities going on in the school, including DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), Our School Story, children speaking about their favourite books and authors and a Book Blitz. I would encourage parents of younger children to read to your child as often as possible. It is a wonderful investment in your child's future.

Next week is Engineering Week. The school has arranged a visit from Maths Mobile Workshops for children from Third to Sixth Classes inclusive.

Reminder:School will be closed on Wednesday March 15th as teachers are required to attend Inservice Training on the New Primary Language Curriculum on that day.

Attendance: In the event of any pupil reaching a total of 20 days absence from school in a school year, the school is required by law to make a report to Tusla,  the National Education Welfare Board. Parents are advised to be aware of this and to be mindful of their child's attendance record. It is school policy to contact parents after a child has reached a total of 15 days absence so that parents are  conscious of their child's attendance record.

Parking: Please use the Resource Centre Car park or the Church grounds. Please do not park near the school gate. Children will have to walk in front of traffic if you do this. Safety is the top priority.

Recycling Day - The next Recycling day in aid of the Parents Association is    Friday March 24th.  Please have your bags of unwanted clothes, handbags, paired shoes etc. in bags at the school by 9.15am that morning.  All families will receive bags next week. Thank you for your continued support for this worthwhile fundraising event.
