School note March 30th

Dear parents,

Today, we hosted a group of French students who are on an Exchange visit with Salesian College in Pallaskenry. They spent a very enjoyable hour with 5th and 6th classes.

On the sporting front, Ms Gibbons and Kevin Conway continued on winning ways when the school won the mixed soccer blitz held in LIT on Tuesday.

Today, our school play in the City Finals of the INTO Mini Sevens in both hurling and camogie. I would appeal to parents who are willing to provide transport to school matches to contact the school if they are willing to be Garda Vetted. Under Child Protection guidelines in place since the start of the year, the school has been obliged to hire buses for all sporting events and this is expensive for parents. However, it is a considerable drain on school resources also.

Reminder: School will close for Easter on Friday April 7th at 12.30 p.m. and reopen on Monday April 24th.

Attendance: In the event of any pupil reaching a total of twenty days absence from school in a school year, the school is  required by law to make a report to Tusla, the Child and Family Agency. Parents are advised to be aware of this and to be mindful of their child's attendance record. Please contact the school if your child is absent. A note in the Homework Journal will suffice.

Please check the school website www.ballybrownns.ie or follow us on Twitter @BallybrownNS to keep yourself informed on school news.
