School note May 18th

Dear parents,

Last Saturday, 40 children from Ballybrown NS received their First Holy Communion. It was a beautiful day, a wonderful occasion and a credit to everybody involved. Thanks to all teachers, school staff and parents   who contributed to a wonderful occasion. Over 100 boys and girls gave up their Saturday morning to sing in the choir. Thanks also to Fr Cussen and his team in St Joseph's Church for their unfailing courtesy.

Science: Ms Gibbons received news today that Ballybrown NS has achieved    a Science Foundation Ireland Discover Science and Maths Award.  This was based on evidence presented on Science activities going on in all classes throughout the school over the past year. Special thanks to Ms Gibbons for coordinating the work and compiling the submission.

Well done to all the children, 50 in all, who took part in the Limerick City Sports at UL yesterday.  Thanks to Mr Sheehy, Mr Keoghan and Mary Conway who looked after the team and to all the children. As usual, their behaviour was excellent. It was great that so many parents attended to support the team.

Best wishes to our under 13 camogie team who are in the City Cumann na mBunscol semi final tomorrow. Throw in 12 noon. The boys played holders Milford NS today in the Olo Cup semi final and won by 2-5 to 1-1.  Our opponents in the final are Kildimo NS.

Hurling coaching with Killian Gavin and Peter Nash resumes tomorrow Friday for boys and girls in Mr Sheehy's class.

All classes will be on school tour on Thursday June 22nd. All details are on the school website www.ballybrownns.ie.  It would be appreciated if tour monies could be submitted by Wednesday May 31st. Each pupil pays tour money to his/her own class teacher..

We have recently enjoyed a spell of very fine weather.  Pupils may wear plain navy shorts to school if they wish. No denim, stripes or logos. PLEASE write your child's name on all fleeces, polo shirts etc!!!

Gach dea-ghuí,

J. Lyons

Principal.
