School note Thursday 26th October

Dear parents,

                      I wish to bring the following to your attention.

            Mr Lordan's brother, Conor, died in a workplace accident on Sunday last while helping to repair a roof which was damaged in the storm. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, children and family. Today's Parent-Teacher meetings have been postponed until Wednesday November 8th.  to allow teachers travel to West Cork for the removal.

            Yesterday, 75 children from this school took part in the Limerick Primary School Cross Country Championships in Limerick Racecourse.  Well done to all who took part. There were excellent performances from so many children. Special thanks to Mr Sheehy, Mr McCarthy and all the parents who assisted.

            Congratulations to Mr Barry  and his wife Sinéad (who taught in Ballybrown NS last school year) on the birth of their first child, a boy.

            Fifth Class children have completed a six-week programme with Cycling Safety School. It was very worthwhile.

            Fourth class begin a six-week swimming module on Wednesday November 8th in Askeaton Leisure Centre. Third Class will have swimming lessons after Christmas.

           Music: All children from 3rd to 6th classes will attend Cork Pops in UL Concert Hall on Friday November 10th. Tickets cost €10 each. The Parents Association are paying for the buses on the day. This is a very generous gesture.

            Colours DayThere will be a Colours Day in the school  tomorrowFriday October 27th, to coincide with the children getting dressed up for Halloween and the start of mid-term break. Suggested donation of €2 per child. All proceeds to the Parents Association. Home-made costumes are ideal. Thank you for your continued support.

 

Book Fair - The Book Fair will take place on Thursday November 16th and Friday November 17th this year. Books will be available for viewing by all classes on Thursday November 16th. The Parents Association are looking for volunteers with the Book Fair. If your are available to assist on Thursday Nov 16th between 2-4pm or between 7.30-9pm or on Friday November 17th between 9am-10am or from 2pm to 3.30pm, please text Susan MacNamara on 087-2257625.

Ballybrown/Clarina Community Games:Draughts have started back in the Resource Centre on Wednesday evenings from 6.45 to 7.45. All are welcome and training will be provided. The cost is €2.00 per person.

School will close tomorrow Friday at 3 p.m. for mid-term and reopen on Monday November 6th.

 Ballybrown Parish Choir: We would love to hear from new members,  if you are someone who enjoys singing then why not sing in our choir?     Rehearsals for Christmas now ongoing Tuesday nights 8 p.m. in the church – so it's a good time to join.  For further information please contact the Parish Office 061 353454
