School note November 16th

Dear parents,

                       It has been another busy week in Ballybrown NS.

                        Yesterday, John Clancy of  Cycling Right presented certificates to Fifth Class who have completed a six-week cycling programme.

                      Last Friday, Tadhg O Shea from Twomey's Bakery paid a visit to the school. He had heard that Ms Keyes' class were bitterly disappointed when there was no fáinne in their Báirín Breac at Hallowe'en. Tadhg gave every child a báirín breac. The class sang the Báirín Breac song for Tadhg to say 'Go Raibh Maith agat' to him for his kind gesture.

            Dean and Cian, students in LIT Sports Department, began a four week programme of  Fundamental Movement Skills with Junior & Senior infants last Friday.

           Killian Gavin, hurling coach, began skills coaching  with Ms Griffin's and Mr Sheehy's classes last Friday afternoon.

            Ms Burke's class were delighted when Fear an phoist  Joe Kiely called to see them last Friday and talked about his work. We appreciate his generosity.

            Mr Eddie Cunningham, an engineer who works with Dell, visited Sixth Class as part of Junior Entrepreneur programme.

           Science Week: This is Science Week. A range of interesting activities are going on in classes throughout the school. Lismore Mobile Science Workshop will visit the school on Monday next November 20th. to provide a practical Science  workshop with 5th & 6th classes.  Cost €4 per child. Please give money to your class teacher.

         

          Book Fair: The Book Fair will take place today, Thursday November 16th.  and tomorrow Friday November 17th . Books will be available for viewing by all classes today.  Books on sale today between 2p.m. - 4p.m. and between  7.30pm and 9 pm, or tomorrow from 9a.m.-10 a.m. or from 2.pm. to 3.30pm.

              Congratulations to Seán O Brien, Emer Conroy and Jools Deegan who were selected to play on Limerick City football selections this week.

          The school is now taking applications for enrolment for Junior Infants for September 2018. There are already almost 50 applicants. Please contact the school office any day between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

                Our best wishes to Mr Keoghan who will be married tomorrow.
