School note December 21st

21-12-2017

Dear parents,

It has been a busy week as carols and laughter fill the air.

Today, all 285 children in the school took part in our Nativity pageant.  I am grateful to all the teachers  and staff who worked so hard to make this possible. Thanks to you, the  parents, for your help with costumes etc.  Thanks also to Fr Cussen and Pat Gallagher for facilitating us in every way.

On Monday, Music Generation came to Ballybrown NS and performed a live musical accompaniment to a screening of the film of 'The Snowman'. It was a great experience and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Yesterday, Sixth class staged two performances of 'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas'. All classes in the school enjoyed the show.  A special word thanks to Mr Barry for taking on this project at such a busy time of year.

Third class will begin swimming lessons on Wednesday January 10th.

The children in Fifth and Sixth classes have completed a ten week block of ICT classes with Whizzkids learning about coding, HTML and Sketch Up.

As we approach the end of term, we are sad to say goodbye to Ms Burke who has been teaching here while Mrs Fitzgerald was on maternity leave. Kim has been a great asset to this school  and will be missed by pupils and colleagues alike.

Reminder that there is a Christmas Eve Family Mass on Christmas Eve, Sunday 24th December at 5pm in Ballybrown Church. All children welcome.

Parents Association: The Ballybrown NS Parents' Association is holding its next meeting on Thursday the 11th January at 8 pm. The Parents Association plays an important role in raising any concerns that parents may have and raises funds for the benefit of the school. They would be grateful if as many parents as possible could attend, in particular parents who are new to the school. All welcome.

School will close for Christmas holiday tomorrow, Friday December 22nd, at 12.30 p.m. Parents of children in Junior and Senior Infants are asked to collect children at 12.10 p.m. to reduce traffic congestion. School will reopen on Monday January 8th at 9.15 a.m.

A message from Ms Day: The school is in need of costumes for future productions. It would be greatly appreciated if children could bring in any costumes/ dress up items or props that they do not use anymore to the drop off point beside Rosemarie's office this Friday morning.  Thanking you all in advance.

GOAL MILE: This Christmas, join us in going the extra mile for GOAL to help support the most vulnerable in our world. Bring along family, friends and neighbours to run, jog or walk the GOAL Mile at the Ballybrown/Clarina

Community Resource Centre on Christmas Day at 12 noon. The GOAL Mile is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, it's all about having fun and giving back this Christmas!

We look forward to seeing you there!

On behalf of the Board of Management and staff of the school, I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas. I look forward to seeing you all in 2018.
