School note December 14th

14-12-2017

Dear parents,

The  school Christmas Carol Service takes place in Ballybrown Church on Thursday 21st December at 10 a.m. for parents of children from Junior infants to Second Class  and 11.15 a.m. for parents of children from Third to Sixth classes. Every child from Junior Infants to Sixth is taking part. Each child needs a Santa hat.

The Children in Sixth class are busy rehearsing for 'The Grinch who Stole Christmas' which they will stage on Wednesday next in the Halla. Props and sets are being painted as I speak.

On Monday December 18th, the school will play host to two showings of the film 'The Snowman', based on the children's story by Raymond Briggs. The musicians of Music Generation Limerick City will provide a live soundtrack to the classic film. Cost is €1 per child. Please give money to your child's teacher.

All the boys and girls in Junior and Senior Infants are looking forward to their visit to LIT tomorrow morning to see a performance of  'Rudolph Saves Christmas'. I am sure they will have a day to remember.

Ms Gibbons has organised a Festive Run to take place today, weather permitting.   Participation in the Festive Run will gain entry to a lottery for a visit from the Special Olympics torch in 2018.

School will close for Christmas holiday on Friday December 22nd at 12.30 p.m. Parents of children in Junior and Senior Infants are asked to collect children at 12.10 p.m. to reduce traffic congestion.

The Parents Association has asked me to inform you that, as was the case for the last few years, they will donate a gift to the staff on behalf of all parents. Teachers do not expect a gift from children. If children would like to give something personal they could perhaps make their own card as a gift to their teacher.

Heartfelt sympathy from all in the school community to the McNamara family on the death of Jean, mother of Abbie. The Parents  Association has made a donation to Milford Hospice.

Community Council  News: The annual Christmas Fair will be held on Sunday December 17th at the Community Resource Centre. Doors open 10.45am. There will be lots on offer. Cake Sale with home made Christmas Cakes and Plum Puddings, Christmas Flower Arrangements and Logs, Firewood and Kindling, Kids Corner with Face Painting and Nail Bar, Raffle for Sumptuous Festive Hamper and lots of spot prizes. Children's Christmas Art Competition  prize winners will be announced.

*Donations of cakes and buns from our gifted bakers would be greatly appreciated.
