School note December 7th 2017

Dear parents,

West Midlands Theatre Company from Wolverhampton visited the school today to perform 'Dick Whittington' for First, Second, Third and Fourth Classes.  It was a great show with lots of audience participation and was enjoyed by all. I have already booked the company for a return visit in December 2018.

We were sad to see Ms Griffin leave Ballybrown NS yesterday having taught Second Class since the start of the current school year. However, we are delighted to welcome Ms Day back to Ballybrown NS after an absence of more than two years. Already, music and song are echoing from her classroom.

On next Thursday December 14th, Ms Gibbons has organised a Festive Run.  All children may wear Christmas jumpers, Santa hats etc. All classes in the school will take part with the proceeds going to Special Olympics Ireland. €2 per child is requested.   Participation in the Festive Run will gain entry to a lottery for a visit from the Special Olympics torch in 2018.

The school Christmas Carol Service will take place in Ballybrown Church on Thursday December 21st with two performances at 10 a.m. and 11.15 a.m.

The Parents Association has asked me to inform you that, as was the case for the last few years, they will donate a gift to the staff on behalf of all parents. Teachers do not expect a gift from children. If children would like to give something personal they could perhaps make their own card as a gift to their teacher.

A Christmas Eve Family Mass will be held on Christmas Eve, Sunday 24th December at 5p.m. in Ballybrown Church. There will be a practice for this Mass for those who wish to participate in the church on Tuesday 19th December from 6.30-8pm. All children are welcome to the practice or just come on Christmas Eve. For any budding tin whistle players please bring whistles. All children welcome.

Ballybrown GAA Juvenile Club are having a visit from Santa to the Clubhouse on Sunday 10th December at 2p.m.  Lots of fun and games planned, all children welcome.

The school  Twitter account now has over 100 followers. This is an ideal way to get a flavour of what's happening in school or to learn about events that may be of interest.
