School note October 3rd

3-10-2019

Dear Parents,

I regret to inform you that  MPCC Credit Union will not be visiting Ballybrown NS this year. I would like to thank Dave Noble, Conor Leahy and all the staff for their courtesy and the service they provided for so many years.  We will, however,  continue to take part in Credit Union activities such as quizzes, colouring competitions etc.

Please ensure that you inform the school of the reason for any absences. Notes were provided for this purpose at the beginning of the school year. The school has a statutory obligation to make a report to Tusla in the case of every child who is absent for twenty days or more in any school year. It is vital that you furnish the school with a reason for any absences.

Our Under 13 girls football team will play St Paul's NS in the semi final of the B competition next week. The Under 13 boys will meet JFK in the semi final. Dates and venues to be decided.

The school will take part in a  football blitz in Mary I next Tuesday October 8th   for girls in  Third and Fourth class.

Children in Fifth and Sixth classes will visit Curraghchase next week for National Tree Day.

Parent teacher meetings are on  Wednesday and Thursday October 16th and 17th from 3.15 to 5.30 p.m. Parents will receive details of appointments next week.

Parents are reminded that school will close for midterm on Friday October 25th at 3 p.m. and reopen on Monday November  4th.

Please note that the school will be closed on Wednesday  December 11th 2019 to enable teachers to attend Inservice training on the new Primary Language Curriculum.

Swimming lessons for Fourth class begin on November 6th and end on Wednesday December 18th. Children received a note today re cost etc.

Best wishes to Ballybrown who play Doon in the County Minor Hurling Final in Bruff on Saturday. Almost all of the Ballybrown team played in our school teams that won the Olo Cup and Leader Cup in 2014, trained by Barry Lordan and Stephen Hodnett.

Please remember to check the school website www.ballybrownns.ie or follow us on Twitter @BallybrownNS.
