School note December 19th

19-12-2019

Dear parents,

It has been a busy week as carols and laughter fill the air.

Yesterday, all 320 children in the school took part in the Christmas Carol Service.  I am grateful to all the teachers  and staff who worked so hard to make this possible. Well done to the children themselves who performed so well and behaved impeccably. We are all proud of them.  Thanks also to Fr Cussen and Pat Gallagher for facilitating us in every way.

The Christmas quiz involving all children in 4th, 5th and 6th classes took place this afternoon.  The winning team of Billy Gavin, Adam Grace, Eva Toomey and Daniel McCarthy answered  52 out of 60 correctly... an outstanding score. The Parents Association very kindly sponsored the prizes.

Fourth class completed a six week block of swimming lessons yesterday.  Third class will start swimming lessons on Wednesday January 8th, 2020. These will take place on six consecutive Wednesdays.

School will close for Christmas holidays tomorrow Friday December 20th at 12.30 p.m. Parents of children in Junior and Senior Infants are asked to collect children at 12.10 p.m. to reduce traffic congestion.

School will reopen on Monday January 6th at 9.15 a.m.

A Christmas Eve Family Mass will be held on Christmas Eve, Tuesday 24th December at 5 p.m. in Ballybrown Church. All children welcome.

GOAL MILE: This Christmas, join us in going the extra mile for GOAL to help support the most vulnerable in our world. Bring along family, friends and neighbours to run, jog or walk the GOAL Mile at the Ballybrown/Clarina

Community Resource Centre on Christmas Day at 12 noon. The GOAL Mile is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, it's all about having fun and giving back this Christmas! International Hockey star Róisín Upton  will take part this year. We look forward to seeing you there!

On behalf of the Board of Management and staff of the school, I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas. I look forward to seeing you all in 2020.
