School note January 9th

9-1-2020

Dear parents,

All children from Junior Infants to Fourth class will begin  a five week programme of gymnastics with  School Fitness Ireland on Monday next January 13th. As an Active School, we try to offer children a broad range of activities.

The boys and girls in Third class began a six week programme of swimming lessons in Askeaton Leisure Centre yesterday.

Confirmation takes place in Ballybrown Church on Tuesday February 18th. Fifth class will take part in a Retreat on Tuesday next January 14th and it will be the turn of Sixth Class on Wednesday. The parish is bearing the cost of the Retreat and the transport costs involved. This is a very generous gesture.

Reminder: Children are supervised from 9 a.m. to 9.15 a.m. each morning. Parents are requested not to bring children to school prior to 9 a.m. as the school will not be responsible for them. As all children assemble in the same yard, children line up in readiness for school. This is not playtime.

Meetings with teachers: All meetings with teachers are strictly by appointment only.  Please telephone the School office to make an appointment.  If you have a concern about your child, speak to the class teacher as a first step.

Homework: Start as you mean to continue,  Check your child's homework diary every night.  Do not sign off on homework unless you are happy it has been completed satisfactorily.

Communication:  Check your child's homework journal for notes from the class teacher.  Please check the school website www.ballybrownns.ie or follow us on Twitter @Ballybrown NS to keep yourself informed on school news.

Healthy Eating: We are very proud of our Healthy eating policy. Fruit, sandwich, water or milk are all a child needs.  Fruit Break every day at 10 a.m.

Is your child starting school in 2020? The closing date for Application forms for Ballybrown NS is  3 p.m.  Friday January 17th. All parents who expressed an interest in enrolling their child have received application forms this week.

Reminder: The closing date for applications for post primary school admission for school year 2020-2021 is Monday January 13th.
