Dear parents,
Dr Richard Egan, National Educational Psychological Service visited school on Monday afternoon to speak to teachers about dyslexia and difficulties in literacy. It was a very worthwhile event.
On Tuesday, teams from Ballybrown NS took part in the INTO Mini Sevens blitzes in Old Christians GAA club. The boys won the City hurling title and now advance to the county finals in Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale on April 18th. The camogie team played very well and are looking forward to the season ahead.
Tá Lá Glas againn ar scoil inniu. Children are allowed to wear green and requested to assist a former pupil. Fintan O Sullivan, who was a pupil in the school, is travelling to India with classmates from Ard Scoil Rís to work as a volunteer in an orphanage. Fintan spoke to classes and showed a DVD about the orphanage in Kolkata.
The Board of Management recently completed its Child Safeguarding Statement which replaces the Child Protection policy previously required. The Statement is on the school website.
The children in Fifth and Sixth classes will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from Bishop Leahy on Wednesday March 21st at 1 p.m. in Ballybrown Church. A huge amount of preparation has gone into this very special occasion.
Friday March 23rd is Daffodil Day. Daffodils will be on sale in Hayes Shop in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. Fresh daffodils may be left at school before 9.15 a.m. on that day.
School will be closed tomorrow March 16th. Teachers are required to attend Inservice on Language Curriculum. Monday March 19th is a Public Holiday and school will be closed on that day. School closes for Easter on Friday March 23rd at 12.30 p.m.
